Acts: Week 3 Day 3
Pray and read
Praise God that he is at work in the world bringing about his good plans and purposes, especially in the growth of his kingdom. Ask him to help you know him better, that you might grow in loyalty to him as your king. Read Acts 11.
Why is Peter criticised on his return to Jerusalem? How does he defend himself?
What conclusion do the apostles and circumcised believers come to?
This interaction between Peter and the apostles is largely a repetition of what we’ve already read in chapter 10. Why might Luke have thought it necessary to include an account of it?
What do we learn about the believers in Antioch? Who are they? What do you notice about their conversion experience? What do they do? Why are these things noteworthy?
When the Greeks in Antioch hear the good news about Jesus, they believed and turned to the Lord. Have you heard the good news about Jesus? If so, have you believed and turned to him? If not, what do you think you still need to understand or work out?
The Christians in Antioch provided financial help for the brothers and sisters living in Judea suffering because of famine. Do you have opportunity to share what God has entrusted to you with those brothers and sisters who are in need? If so, are you doing it? If not, what steps might you take to be generous?
Praise God for his generosity to us. Thank him for his salvation available in his Son. Thank him for the provision of physical needs. Ask him to give you opportunities to be generous, and a desire to act when those opportunities arise.
