Kings Week 3: Day 2

Pray and read

Thank God for his Word that you’ll read today, ask for help to cherish it, understand it, and apply it. Read 1 Kings 5.

What were the conditions that made the time ripe for Solomon to build the temple?

How do these conditions compare to those stipulated in the Law (Read Deuteronomy 12:1-14)

What did the God-given wisdom enable Solomon to do? (1 Kings 5:12)

Read Hebrews 10:11-14. Who is the priest in verse 12? In what ways is this priest different to the old order of priests?

In what ways is this priest similar and different to Solomon?

Any ideas of who the enemies are? (See 1 Corinthians 15:21-26, Revelation 12:10-12, Colossians 2:13-15 if you want some ideas)

What is my role in the enemies being made a footstool?

What has the sacrifice achieved? What does this mean for me?

Thank you God that our enemies will be put under Jesus’ feet, and that I can have confidence this will happen. Help me to trust you, and to recognise who my enemies truly are. Thank you that you are making me holy, and help me to continue to become more like you.
