Matthew Week 6: Day 3
Pray and read
Father, please help me to understand today’s passage – that I would know Jesus better, so that what he’s done for me would impact my thoughts, feelings and actions today. Read Matthew 26:1-2, 17-30.
What events do the Passover and Festival of Unleavened Bread celebrate? What is the significance of the unleavened bread? What’s the significance of the Passover lamb? (Read Exodus 12, or for a shortcut – read Exodus 12:1-7 and v12-17)
In Matthew 26:26-28, Jesus symbolises his body and blood in the bread and wine, at the Passover meal. If Jesus is pointing to himself being the Passover lamb, from what you read in Exodus and this Matthew passage, what will this achieve?
Does the original Passover point to the new/true Passover being for all people, or for some people? How are people identified?
What significance does the new/true Passover have for you? What has Jesus done for you?
How will you respond what Jesus has done today?
Thank you God for giving us Jesus as our Passover lamb, and that he took the judgement we deserve upon himself. Please help me remember today that because of what Jesus has done, I can have a relationship with you, and that I would treasure this gift above everything else.
