Matthew Week 2: Day 1
Pray and read
Pray that God would use his word to shape you mind, affect your heart and change your actions. Read Matthew 24:1-14.
How does Jesus respond to the disciples’ admiration of the temple buildings?
What do the disciples ask Jesus about? Why might they see these three questions as being related?
What warnings and signs does Jesus talk about? How does he tell his disciples to respond when these signs happen?
What hope does this passage give?
Jesus foretells numerous ominous events that will occur to the disciples. Yet he tells them to not be alarmed (v.6) and to not let their love grow cold (v.12), for ‘the one who stands firm to the end will be saved’ (v.13).
How does the surety of our salvation in Christ transform our perspective of hardships that we face? How does this impact our actions in situations of hardship?
Thank God for the certainty we have of our salvation in Jesus.
