Apply

Read 1 John 1:5-2:2

We’re the ones who have sinned, yet Jesus was the one who took responsibility for it. He paid the penalty (atoning sacrifice) and purified us. We ought to respond not by pretending we’re without sin, but confessing it to each other.

Do you confess your sins to God and to other Christians? What responsibility are you taking when you confess your sins?

Pray

Father, thank you so much for sending Jesus to pay the penalty for my sins. I’m sorry for when I’ve wronged you and wronged others. Thank you for purifying me. Please help me to be humble enough to confess when I’ve done wrong. Amen.
