Week 9: Day 1
Read: Luke 22:63-65
How do you think the soldiers viewed Jesus?
In what way did they ridicule Jesus?
Read Philippians 2:8-11
Jesus knew what he was going to endure (Matt 26:39) and of course had the ability to defend himselfbut chose to make himself nothing. Little did the soldiers know they were part of a much bigger plan.
We are told that persecution is part of the Christian life (2 Timothy 3:12). Australia is becoming a trickier place to be a Christian almost every year. We have lots of small, almost daily decisions to make about where we stand on social and political issues that impact our workplace and family life.
Can you think of a time when you’ve had to make a decision that you know is going to cause difficulties in your work place or amongst your friends?
What can Christians count on, when they are persecuted for following Jesus?
· For God to bring justice on the day of the return of Jesus
· For patience as we face injustice now for the sake of the Gospel
· For openness to Gods word and to the people he chooses to speak through
