Meet the Staff
Rory was born and raised in Albany, Western Australia. He studied English and Anthropology at university and, as a consequence, mainly worked in cafes and kebab shops. In addition, his ministry has included pastoring, church planting, local and international student ministry and, more recently, evangelism amongst those who live and/or work in the inner city of Perth. He is married to Susan and they have four boys. As senior pastor Rory has strategic oversight of Providence Church as a whole, and carries the pastoral and teaching responsibility for Providence City.
Amy grew up in the northern suburbs of Perth, the third of four exuberant girls, and first learned the gospel from her parents. She has the particular privilege of pointing women to Jesus, spurring them on in faith and godliness. Amy taught high school students Politics and English before studying Theology, and still loves the Saturday papers.
Jon is married to Jessamy and they have two daughters, Annabelle and Bethwyn. Jon graduated from Trinity Theological College and in January 2015 began work as an Associate Pastor at Providence City Church. Jon struggles to focus on one thing for too long and divides his week between Providence and shift work as a hospital doctor on Saturdays.
Robbie is married to Jasmine and they have a french bulldog named Louis. Robbie has a commerce degree and worked in the finance sector before commencing studies at Trinity Theological College. He joined the Providence team in November 2015 to oversee Providence's operations and Sunday services.
Deb studied linguistics and Indonesian at uni, then taught ESL briefly before moving into administration. She handles the accounts and general admin for Prov, and harbours ambitions of changing the world through good urban planning. She is married to Tim and they have two young daughters. Prone to pie-in-the-sky dreaming and scheming, Deb also finds satisfaction in attending to details, like reconciling accounts and correcting grammatical errors.
Jarod grew up in the small town of Kojonup and finished schooling in Albany before moving to Perth to study engineering. After deciding that wasn't the right path, Jarod worked as a Christmas Elf (i.e. making and installing Christmas decorations for shopping centres in Perth) for a couple of years. Jarod has many hobbies including cooking, playing Dungeons and Dragons and pulling apart electronics.
Ben is married to Madeleine, and was born and bred in Midland. Ben studied Science at uni and worked as a geologist (rock licker) in the Northern Goldfield of WA. Ben likes cooking, and enjoying good food with friends and family. During his internship Ben wants to grow in faith and love for Jesus, while having a shot at full time practical ministry at Providence City Church.
Maddy is in her second year of internship at Providence City Church. Perth has been home for most of her life, after short stints in NSW and Tasmania. She studied Science at university, and then Primary teaching. After a few years teaching Year 4, she and her husband Ben decided to give full time church ministry a go, and are looking forward to seeing where the path leads!
